The English Club

We provide text books and instruments (you can too, if you like) and everyone contributes fun and love of singing. We are looking forward to seeing you!

We meet usually on the last Sunday of the month.

We usually meet every second Sunday, but the schedule might change, so check back here, or send an email, to find out when the future meetings will be.

The English Book Club gathers together to discuss a book, or poems, or something else literary. Old and new participants are welcome to join us.

The next meeting is going to be a face-to-face meeting in Göttingen in mid-September. We will be discussing JAMES by PERCIVAL EVERETT. Get in touch if you will be in the area and want to join us.

We are planning our traditional Guy Fawkes fire on 5 November at the club (or rather outside in front of the house), starting at 7pm. Of course there will be potatoes and sausages, too – and in case of a downpour we can take shelter inside.

We hope to see you all joining in to burn the guy!

The Committee invites you to our traditional Christmas Dinner taking place December 6th, 2025. 

If you would like to support the organisation team please talk to one of the Committee members.

The Advent coffee & cake afternoon will take place December 14th at 3 pm.

We will have (Irish?) coffee, mulled wine, and, of course, sing Christmas carols.

On January 17th, 2026 we will pay tribute to Scotland’s own National Bard, Robert Burns, by reciting his poems, drinking Whisky and enjoying haggis, tatties and neeps.
